Variegate, Inc. Stamping Presses and Related Equipment   FlexSpray Die Lubrication Systems

Pump Lubrication: Adjust the oiler to provide one drop of SAE 10 weight lubrication every 8-10 FlexSpray solenoid firings.  The one drop applies whether one pump or 12 pumps are cycling.  To obtain this slow of a drip the pump oiler is nearly turned off.  Keeping the pump oiler reservoir full and properly adjusted is the key to long pump life.  Note - The oiler drip rate must be adjusted if the air pressure is changed.

Pump Priming: Pumps are self priming - If a pump won’t prime there could be a leaky line, plugged line or the pump’s o-rings could be worn

 Pump Stroke:

·        Standard Pump (9:1 ratio):  0-0.051 fluid ounces

·        Micro Pump (9:1 ratio):  0-0.017 fluid ounces

·        High Viscosity Pump (30:1 ratio):  0-0.051 fluid ounces (1000 SUS or greater but you must test to verify acceptability of spray pattern )

Stroke Adjustment - Typically do not go below 50% of the full stroke as the spray pattern tends to breakdown at this point (see Pump Spray Volume Chart below)

 Pump Cycle:

·        Pumps can cycle up to 300 cycles per minute

·        High speed press (75-100/min) - use the programmable counter to avoid over lubrication

Pump Pressure: Varying the pump pressure will change the spray pattern.  Run the pumps at the lowest acceptable pressure to prevent over spray.  Pumps can be run as high as 100 psi if required

Tip Designs: A range of spray patterns are available from ½” diameter (pin point), 5” diameter (TG2) to 2”x15” rectangle (110 degree fan) - Note: from a six inch perpendicular distance.

 Sump Maintenance:

·        Always fill the reservoir with virgin fluid or recycled fluid filtered at ~200 micron (0.01 inch) or finer

·        Make sure pails are rinsed free of grit, etc. prior to filling the reservoir

 Repeat Cycle Timer:

Use left most push button to set operation mode on “B”.  Set the desired repeat cycle timing using the remaining four dials.  The relay will remain in “Normal” for the time period set on the remaining four dials after power is applied to terminal #2 of the relay and then is energized for the same length of time.  The relay will then automatically reset and will continue to repeat the above cycle until power is removed from terminal #2.  At this time the relay will return to “Normal” as shown in the standard drawing (see directions with included with timer).
