Electro-Permanent Magnet Die Clamping
These magnetic modules are designed expressly for mold clamping on metal stamping press die clamping. They are provided with a specific magnetic layout and neutral areas for scrap removal.
The system includes a proximity switch to ensure the die is within 0.006" of the bolster or ram surface before clamping is allowed. The system uses as little as 1.5" (38 mm) of shut height for the ram plate and 2.17" (55 mm) of shut height for the bolster plate. The additional thickness provides room for die lifters. For the force feedback system both plates must be 2.17" (55 mm) thick. The magnetic flux generated penetrates the die for 1.18 inches (30 mm) at a controlled depth, enabling it to hold it in safely without interfering with parts inside the die. The magnetic poles hold 440 to 5,620 pounds (2.2 to 25 kN) depending on the type used. The magnetic die clamping system cannot overheat and is not affected by electrical interruption.
